During 1983 to 1985, Greta was an active member of the political organisation known as the United Democratic Front, and active in the Wentworth United Committee of Concern. Through these structures, she campaigned actively against the tricameral elections because it deliberately excluded African people from that political dispensation. In January 1986, I was recruited by comrade Robert McBride to become a member of a Special Operations Unit of uMkhonto we Sizwe. Shortly after the unbanning of the ANC in 1990, she became an executive member of the Wentworth branch of the ANC.
